Weekend of Awesomeness

Lisa and I have had some pretty nice weekends as of late. We had a lovely weekend in Madison, WI with our friends Robb and Jessie last weekend. It involved a winter hike, ice skating, a bit of hockey, eating food, beer, cheese, church, and good conversation. Robb and Jessie are high school friends of Lisa's, but I have been able to get to know them over the past years too. I'll admit, I am humbled by both of their intelligence and am quickly reminded how smart I am NOT in many areas, but they don't rub it in. Ha ha.

Other weekend endeavors have included spending time with local friends, having people over for meals, getting out and enjoying the warm weather, walks in the forest preserve, and doing some chores and school work. Nothing special, but the kinds of things that keep life interesting and fun. This weekend we are headed to Grand Rapids to visit my grandparents. Grandpa is still holding his own against Alzheimers and Grandma is doing well. They are blessed to be in a care facility that can handle Grandpa's needs and also give Grandma the freedom that she needs. We hope to see some of my cousins and college friends and some assorted babies of those people too.

Life between the weekends, also know as the work week, is going well too. Being a second year teacher is amazing. Not having to spend every Saturday and evening planning and preparing is so nice. I still keep busy with tweaking and refining and of course the grading and meetings, but overall this year has been much easier. Timothy is a great place to be and I have great coworkers and students. Couldn't really ask for anything more.

I am also involved in a weekly Bible study that I enjoy a lot. I am not always the best about doing my daily "homework", but it gets done before we meet on Monday nights. I am also going through my usual winter cabin fever tradition of getting back into the gym and running and lifting more frequently. I prefer running outdoors during the nice parts of the year, but the treadmill will do. I just need to do a better job of lifting throughout the year and not eating so much and I will hopefully start dropping the pounds that I want to.

Well, now that I have started talking about my weight loss aspirations, that tells me that I have nothing else to say. So, bye.
